Driving License

Planning to drive a car or motorbike while staying in Bali?
Whether you’re here for a few months or long-term, having a valid Indonesian Driving License (SIM) is essential — not only to stay safe and legal, but also to avoid fines, complications with insurance, or issues during traffic checks.

At Access to Bali, we’re here to help make the process smooth and stress-free for you.

📌 Who Needs an Indonesian Driving License?

If you’re a foreigner residing in Indonesia on a valid stay permit (ITAS, ITAP, or certain visa types), and you plan to drive a vehicle, you are required to hold a local driving license, known as a SIM (Surat Izin Mengemudi).
Even if you have an International Driving Permit (IDP), it is only valid for short visits and often not recognized for long-term residents.

✅ Types of Driving Licenses for Foreigners

There are two main types:

  • SIM A – for driving a car

  • SIM C – for riding a motorbike
